PERFECT ANGEL

by Gipsy

To  Matthew  Shepard... never ever forgotten

I cried for you

the other morning

selfish tears for myself

is more accurate

because you are

beyond pain

Now

I think of you often

alone, cold and friendless

at the time of your death

on that infamous frigid night

they say you were

a twink

a bar fly

I say

you go boy

but what do they know

what do I know

just fragments

of who you really were

everyone rallied around

shocked and oh so horrified

self righteously

saddened

by your

MURDER

makes me keep

my petty grief

to myself

Besides...

I am ashamed

to tell you

that I grieve

for those

two assholes too

their lives

their souls

just as dead

as you are

I heard Melissa

singing to you today

telling your story

for brief moments

I was lost

in the haunting beauty

of her voice

and then

it hit

a sudden burst

of unbearable sadness

over your

needless

fucked up

death
